Just a week ago, Whatsapp started to release their privacy policy update.
It’s true that WhatsApp users like you feel betrayed. I have seen people trying to rate down Whatsapp.
So, if you are planning or already changed your messaging app, you should read the whole article, it will take 2mins. At the end, you will be introduced with a new application, a new option
Signal or Telegram?
No, it’s already discussed in many websites and I won’t just echo them. But in short, the summary is:
Many security specialist is recommending Signal as it is completely open-source. It enables Encryption by default in all conversations.
But Telegram still stands out for its incredible and powerful features.
Is Open-source the solution?

As many will brainwash, actually, open source products are not the solution as they are open-source.
Open source products are fast to grow and visible to everyone. But the fact is that, people can see their codes, can’t see what they do in real-time. There is no guarantee that they don’t add extra secret pieces of codes.
Once something is Open source, it means anyone can see, edit the codes and the authority can review and publish them. Usually, none gets profit from it.
Suppose, you have an open-source project. Can’t you add your own codes over the codes publicly shown?
Now you know that WhatsApp shares personal data. Remember, they use Signal’s open-source encryption system. If it is really not possible to add custom codes and use in real world apps over open-source codes, how do they do it?
Moreover, servers are still a thing which is controlled by the authority, not by the people. It’s not open source.
As security specialists say, Open-source is often better because they can verify their system.
In a word, just open source doesn’t mean that it is a solution.
What is the solution then?
Look, in cyber world, you are not fully secure any time. But if the authority gives you security from their point, you can feel almost safe. There are very less possibility that your data will be stolen.
There are a lot of ways of hacking personal data and there are thousands of new ways upcoming. Open-source, in this case is often a good player as a lot of people will work on it freely. But, private farms are better player, because they will try their best only to solve the problem.
The solution is to use something that has proof of highest security and offers you everything you need.
Again: Signal or Telegram
This time, you have better idea and you can choose your need.
- If you want powerful features with more social interaction, go with Telegram
- If you mainly focus on private messaging that we need everyday, go with Signal
In my last article, I compared them with scores. Here is a small part of the whole thing:

Telegram
Telegram is also experienced as Signal and focused on Speed and Privacy.

Signal VS Telegram VS Bubblink – Comparison with Scores
Signal + Telegram = Bubblink Messenger
Probably didn’t hear the name Bubblink before, right?
It’s way more powerful than both Signal and Telegram.
Just before Whatsapp released update, they released the new generation of End-to-end Encryption named Complete Encryption.
The interesting matter is that you yourself, who don’t know anything about cyber security, can check if the encryption exists.
In End-to-end encryption, the messages are not encrypted in:
- Cookies – created when you use websites and apps
- Caches – created to show apps and websites faster
- System trey – it’s the app’s own space where it saves data and fetches data
But in Complete Encryption, the messages are encrypted everywhere including the above, except, when the messages are rendered (shown) in front of users.
You will notice that Signal/Telegram shows the message in their notification. It means either the messages are decrypted from server or they are not encrypted in system trey. But from recent update, Bubblink no more exposes message in notification.
There are a few more interesting features like:
- 100+ Free Themes
- Group Chat with unlimited participants
- Magic Chat (Messages disappear as soon as you leave the screen)
- Chat Lock – Set password to most private conversation
- Video call with upto 70 people
- Send Media of maximum 100MB
Here are some upcoming features that are announced:
- More secure Encryption
- Prevent screenshot if chat partner doesn’t approve it
- Blur chat screen when it is in background
- Make Encryption System Open-source
- More customization
